On July 24, 1996 the Chesterfield County School Board acted to add schools to the bond referendum. That same year, on November 5, the referendum was voted on and passed. Construction began on Spring Run Elementary in July of 1998 and the total cost of construction was $9,372,608. Even with the many construction delays and deadlines to meet, the school was ready for students on the first day of school. On Sept. 7, 1999, Spring Run Elementary opened its doors for the start of the first school year. The community was filled with enthusiasm and excitement as we began our first year together. The students of Spring Run held an election and voted for the Husky as their mascot. The teachers voted for the school colors; silver and blue to represent the new millennium and red to represent our hearts.
